On December 25, 2025, an incident occurred within the jurisdiction of this Office in which a defendant surnamed Ho allegedly attacked a woman with a knife in downtown Miaoli City and brandished the weapon to threaten a convenience store employee. Upon receiving the report, this Office immediately assigned Prosecutor Lu Yi-Chen, a member of the “Public Safety Attack Prevention and Response Task Force,” to direct the investigation conducted by the Miaoli Precinct of the Miaoli County Police Bureau.

Following interrogation, the prosecutor determined that the defendant surnamed Ho was strongly suspected of committing the offenses of causing injury and intimidation endangering public safety. Given substantial grounds to believe that the defendant posed a risk of repeatedly committing similar offenses, the prosecutor petitioned the court for detention, which was approved.

Upon concluding the investigation today (the 5th), the prosecutor filed an indictment against the defendant surnamed Ho for violations of Article 277, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (Offense of Injury) and Article 305 of the same Code (Offense of Intimidation Endangering Safety).

In accordance with directives issued by the Ministry of Justice and the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office, this Office established the “Public Safety Attack Prevention and Response Task Force” on December 22 of last year. In handling major intimidation and public safety endangerment cases, designated prosecutors from the task force are instructed to direct investigations in a swift and stringent manner. The Office has also comprehensively strengthened inter-agency early warning, reporting, and immediate response mechanisms in order to curb the spread of intimidation and public fear, and to maintain social order and stability.
